I’m Lauren Lowe, LMFT therapist in Sacramento, California.
I received my Bachelor’s degree at Princeton University, then my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at The American School of Professional Psychology. I approach patients in a practical, strength-based, solution-focused way.
As an EMDR specialist, I treat many clients with PTSD. Together, we find sustainable methods of coping with symptoms and returning to functional, joy-filled lives.
I have extensive experience treating substance addiction and providing follow-up work to help my clients achieve long-term, satisfying sobriety. To this end, I facilitate and support my clients’ efforts to utilize community resources and maintain sober community ties.
I treat mental health struggles including anxiety, depression, panic disorder and social anxiety. I also treat phobias including public speaking, flying, driving and others. I also help patients work through interpersonal problems using EMDR, talking therapy, processing of emotions, and building of coping skills and self-awareness to help reduce and eliminate symptoms.
I have experience working as an expert witness for patients involved in legal cases resulting from injury-related trauma (PTSD from car accidents, distress from wrongful terminations and other trauma-related psychological injury). I have testified as an expert witness at depositions, arbitrations and trials.
I also provide formal psychological evaluations for attorneys requiring documentation of their clients’ psychological damages.
In these cases, my process customarily includes meeting with the client, providing an assessment, diagnosis, and report(s) articulating the emotional distress from (e.g.) the trauma of being wrongfully terminated, being assaulted (sexually or otherwise), being injured via car accident, and other injuries.
Philosophically, I encourage patients to begin therapy when they feel they are ready. Rather than merely “co-signing victimhood,” I hold my patients accountable for their progress and help them maximize their time and resources. I challenge my clients to apply themselves throughout the therapy process so they experience maximum benefits and results.
Through each challenge, I encourage my clients to focus on what they can control and I teach tools to help handle difficult relationships and life-situations. Together, we focus on learning new behaviors, boundaries and perspectives to help the healing process and to feel better!
On a case-by-case basis, I occasionally provide online therapy via real-time video chat if circumstances warrant.
Thank you for reading my approach; I look forward to helping guide you through this healing and fulfilling journey!
